Calling all scouts! Join our Aquarium Staff and dive into an adventure full of discovery, scientific inquiry, and hands-on fun.
The Living Art Marine Center is the place to be for in-depth scout programs, workshops, laboratory classes, or outdoor adventures.
A wide variety of programs can be chosen for tiger, wolf, bear, and webelos ranks. Our scout program covers part or full requirements of rank electives, academic pins, belt loops, and the oceanography merit badge.
Please ask our Education Department staff for information on which program is the best choice for your scout group.

Marine Center Excursion |
Scout program includes a 90 minute guided tour with one of our marine educators to see our aquarium exhibits, to learn about different kinds of fish, play, craft activities, touch animals, and talk to a professional in the field.
Ideal for tiger, wolf, and bear rank electives.
Cost: $5.50 per scout (minimum of 15 scouts).
Scout special: T-shirt printing for $5.50 per shirt.
When: any day of the week.

Reef Walk |
Explore Hawai'i's shallow water marine life in this 2 hour outdoors adventure.
Scouts learn about different animals of the Hawaiian reefs, camouflage, animal classification, important safety tips on visiting the reef, and how to be a good reef visitor.
Cost: $8.50 per person (minimum of 15 scouts).
Scout special: transect study available upon request.
When: dates, times, and location varies.

Reef Walk and Microbe Monsters Lab |
This two day program includes a reef walk program as well as a laboratory class the next day to study microscopic organisms. Scouts will observe first hand how plankton is being collected using a plankton net and will identify microscopic organisms. Bring your water scope optional.
This program covers important requirements for the Oceanography Merit Badge as well as belt loops and pins.
Cost: $18.50 per scout (minimum of 15 scouts).
Scout special: plankton tow included.

Opae Ula - Endangered and Endemic |
Two hour program includes learning about Hawai'i's endemic and endangered anchialine pond shrimp and their ecosystem, making your own Opae Ula aquarium to take home*, touching animals, and a tour of our Aquarium Exhibits. What can you do to save this endangered animal?
Cost: $12.50 per scout (minimum of 15 scouts).
Scout special: guided tour with focus on endemic animals.
*scouts will take home the non-endangered variety of Opae Ula.

Wacky Wild Wet Lab |
Perform cool science experiments while learning about the properties of water, temperature, salinity density, and the water cycle. Scouts also use the scientific method and perform a science experiment with a testable hypothesis.
This lab class covers important requirements for the Cub Scout Academics Science program.
Cost: $12.50 per scout (minimum of 15 scouts).

Squid Dissection - with Fish Feeding Tour |
Dissection is an important part of science discovery that can help us better understand how life works. Scouts will dissect their own squid, learn about the internal and external anatomy of this animal and write their name on a card with squid ink! Scouts will also touch animals at the Discovery Zone.
Cost: $12.50 per scout (minimum of 15 guests).
Scout special: fish feeding tour included.
